◆Background:
Fluorine Chemical Industry — A strategic basic industry with almost no substitutes in terms of high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and low surface energy, thanks to the extreme stability of the carbon-fluorine bond. Currently, the capacity structure of the fluorine chemical industry is continuously optimizing. Homogenized low-end basic fluorine product capacity is gradually contracting, and the focus of industrial R&D is shifting to modified, high-purity, and specialized fluorine-containing new materials. Various regions are improving local upstream and downstream industrial chains of fluorine chemicals, addressing shortcomings in the independent processing of high-end materials, and reducing dependence on imports of external high-end materials. The fluorine chemical industry has completely bid farewell to the old logic of traditional cyclical fluctuations and fully entered a new cycle of high-quality development driven by "high-end advancement, green constraints, and domestic substitution." The industry's growth engine is switching from the stock replacement of air conditioning refrigeration to the incremental explosion of new energy, semiconductors, and AI liquid cooling. This is not a gentle gradual process, but a structural leap driven by the dual wheels of policy push and demand pull.
From the supply side, global fluorine chemical capacity is undergoing a "silent reshuffle." International environmental conventions, represented by the "Kigali Amendment," have locked the production quotas of third-generation hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants at rigid levels, and the substitution process for fourth-generation low-GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants is accelerating comprehensively. As the world's largest producer and consumer of fluorine chemicals, China occupies an absolute dominant position in this quota game. Leading enterprises, relying on quota advantages and integrated capacity layouts, have seen market concentration continue to rise; the industry CR6 has approached extremely high levels, while small and medium-sized capacity is accelerating exit under the double squeeze of environmental production limits and quota constraints. From the demand side, the application scenarios of fluorine chemicals are undergoing a "quiet revolution." Demand for refrigerants in traditional home appliances and automotive air conditioning has stabilized, while the three major tracks of new energy, semiconductors, and AI data centers are reshaping the demand structure at a speed far exceeding expectations.
From a global perspective, the Asia-Pacific region dominates the global production and consumption pattern of fluorine chemicals with absolute advantage. As the core engine, China's market size continues to increase its share of the global total. In the next few years, the market size of China's fluorine chemical industry is expected to hit a new high, with the proportion of high-end products further increasing, becoming the main contributor to industry growth. More noteworthy is the structural characteristic of this growth. In the refrigerant sector, quota control for third-generation HFCs is tightening, fourth-generation hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) are accelerating substitution, and industry concentration is further increasing; in the fluoropolymer sector, demand for high-performance products such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and perfluoroethylene continues to grow, especially in applications like new energy batteries, photovoltaic backsheets, and 5G communications, driving rapid market expansion; in the electronic chemicals sector, the penetration rate of products like high-purity fluorides and fluorine-containing etching solutions in semiconductor manufacturing continues to rise, and the import substitution process accelerates, opening new growth poles for the industry.
The fluorine chemical industry is undergoing a silent yet profound qualitative change. It does not chase trends, yet stands upstream of almost all trends — new energy needs its lithium battery materials, semiconductors need its electronic specialty gases, AI needs its liquid cooling media, and green transformation needs its environmentally friendly refrigerants. The 2027 International Fluorine Chemical Exhibition is an international brand event in the industry held according to the principles of "specialization, internationalization, and branding." With both government support and the participation of industry authorities, its popularity and influence in the industry are rising day by day. Industry insiders regard it as the best platform for "understanding industry information, grasping market dynamics, displaying corporate brands, expanding trade channels, and seeking cooperation opportunities." The excellent results of the exhibition have won the praise and favor of many exhibitors and visitors. It has effectively promoted the comprehensive entry of China's fluorine chemical related products into the global procurement system, and promoted coordinated cooperation, mutual benefit, win-win outcomes, and common development and progress with the fluorine chemical industries of the world.
